At 6 p.m. on Monday, May 7, the city of Oakwood will conduct a commemoration ceremony at Creager Field, located at the corner of Shafor Boulevard and Irving Avenue. The purpose of the ceremony is to rededicate park land originally developed in the late 1960s recognizing and honoring the many contributions of Walter P. Creager, Oakwood’s first town Marshal. The event will include presentation of a resolution by Mayor Bill Duncan. |

The city of Oakwood will conduct a town hall meeting at the Oakwood Community Center at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss significant financial challenges that Oakwood is facing with the elimination of Ohio’s century old estate (inheritance) tax. All Oakwood citizens are encouraged to attend. The meeting will include a short presentation from the mayor and city manager followed by a question and answer period. Several actions taken last year by our governor and our state elected leaders have directly resulted in a major reduction in financial resources available to pay for the services provided by the city of Oakwood. The most notable action was elimination of the estate tax. |

Citizens will have two options again this year for obtaining leaf mulch. For those who want mulch delivered, we offer 3 cy for $75 and 6 cy for $100. Please call 298-0777 to place an order. We will be taking orders beginning in March on a first come, first served basis. Mulch deliveries will take place on 5
Saturdays beginning on April 14 and ending on May 12. On the same five Saturdays, residents can obtain free mulch from the public works center at 210 Shafor Blvd. between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., but must haul the material themselves and provide proof of residency. City personnel will assist in
loading the mulch. No commercial vehicles will be loaded. |

The city of Oakwood will commence with annual fire hydrant flushing throughout the city starting on April 30, 2012. The work is expected to be completed by June 1, 2012. Shown on the attached map is the proposed schedule. These dates are for planning purposes only and may be adjusted as the project unfolds. |
